I’ve been back on a workout regime for about a month now. I’m up to running 4 days a week and lifting two days a week. I’m starting to get in shape for the Broad Street 10 miler in May and more importantly getting in beach shape for my Punta Cana trip on Feb 19th. I don’t have a weight loss goal but I didn’t like the 189 my scale read a few weeks ago. I’m working out, and eating better and just trying to look better and feel better.

I’m trying something new. The 100 pushup challange. With all my years of swimming my shoulders are pretty horrible and I haven’t been able to do much pushup type work in years. My shoulder have gotten better over the years of not swimming so I’m going for this. I’m too lazy to read the website, but I think the goal is to be able to do 100 pushups without stopping. In my latest workout I did 16,17,14,14, then the last set is to do as many as you can and I did 30 for a total of 91. My the end of the 6 week program you’re doing a total of at least 220 and 60 without stopping. I guess you then take a day or two off then try 100 non-stop? I don’t know, I don’t care much about the goal, just the results. Which is me looking even more like Mr. America.

Well it’s a new year and with that comes new fitness goals!  We’re taking our engagement pictures on January 31st so my goal for the month is to lose a few pounds and get these arms a little leaner.  At 28, the body is starting to sag and it’s really gross.

So, 2009 Fitness and Dietary Goals:

– 30 minutes to an hour’s worth of cardio on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

– 18-24 reps of various upper body strength training on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

– 15 to 30 minute run on Saturdays

– One soda a week

– Five beers a week

– One bottle of wine a week

– Eight glasses of water a day

– One dairy product a day

– One red meat meal a week

I’ve been keeping  a food diary for the past four days and it’s really helped in making conscience food decisions.  I tend to not eat junk food in general but it has made me question if I really do need that cup of corn chips with queso or not.  Having to write down the things you eat and then having to judge them makes you not want to stuff your face full of crap.   I encourage anyone who is trying to lose weight to keep a food diary.

As of today I’m 125.5 lbs (hey, I’m pretty proud that I’ve lost a half pound in two days!) and the goal is 120 or a little under by January 31st.  Wish me luck!
